Yummy!

I just bought myself some cream corn korokke (croquettes) and they're so good! Frying them up made my smoke detector go off but who cares because they're so delicious. In hindsight, I probably should have taken a picture but I ate them too quickly before I thought of it... They were just that good.

Whomever it was that said that buying prepackaged korokke is much better than making them yourself is totally right! I made beef and potato korokke once and they took absolutely forever. It was time and labor intensive but I have to admit, they were pretty good after I made them. Now I really wish I had bought more of them. I kinda want to try the curry korokke and the potato one as well now... Should have thought of that before... :\

I bought the korokke from Sunrise Mart as well as ingredients for okonomiyaki. I had been wanting to make them again but I used up all my okonomiyaki sauce and katsuoboshi. I can't even imagine making okonomiyaki with either of those two items missing so I've been delaying it until I could get a chance to get up to Astor Place and buy some more. The Chinese stores in Chinatown just don't seem to carry okonomiyaki sauce so that's mainly the reason why I had to go to a Japanese place specifically. I'll probably be making it tomorrow night for dinner I think. I need time to give my beef to defrost so I can use them in them.

Anyway, I hit Sunrise Mart right after we got back from our trip to the Long Island Pine Barrens, specifically the Cranberry Preserve. It was so freaking cold. I mean really, really cold. It felt worse than the trip to Central Park when it was snowing! The wind was relentless and we were just freezing to death... My poor fingers... I couldn't really take good notes simply because after half an hour, they stop cooperating with me. All in all, we spent about two and a half hours there. Getting there took an hour on a nice chartered bus and I felt surprisingly alive during the drive there considering the fact that I had only three and half hours of sleep... When I woke up, I made myself cook some eggs and eat them because I knew I would need something to sustain me during our hike and it was good to have something in my stomach. I was starving by the end of the trip though but before we got back on the Long Island Expressway, we stopped at a McDonalds to make a pit stop and I got myself some coffee to warm me up and some fries.

Then my sister Diana called me and we pretty much talked the entire hour away. She was supposed to be sleeping but I guess she was much more happier procrastinating sleeping. ^^ It was actually very nice.

Then I got back and did Sunrise Mart. There were so many people around, it was crazy. I guess everyone is on their Spring Breaks because I haven't seen so many tourists in a while... Plus, it is a pretty nice day and thankfully it's warmed up quite a bit so staying in seems to be a bit of a chore. Me, I'm going to take a nap. I really need sleep and now that I've had a small snack of my yummy korokke (so tempted to go tomorrow and buy some more...Just to stock up because they're really handy as snacks...), I don't feel like I'm starving. Oh man, thinking of korokke just makes me want to have some more. Who would have though cream corn would even be that good anyway? But it really was yummy! Ugh, want more... No, I need sleep. I can have more korokke tomorrow. I think I will go back and buy more. We'll see how tomorrow fares I guess. :\
