sherryillkIt's 5:30 AM and I have just finished the fifth season of Major.
My thoughts -- MY GOD, MOST AWESOME SEASON OF MAJOR EVER! It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me almost hyperventilate. It was simply amazing. And the use of the very first opening theme song of Kokoro e by Road of Major (I had to dig out my old copy of this song just to offer it) as the end theme for the last episode? It made me want to laugh out loud and cry at the same time. All the memories of everything that has happened up to now came rushing back. Major will always be one of my favorite sports animes -- up there with Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21 and Hikaru no Go...
I was trying to decide whether or not this season could beat the first season of Major. Seriously, I think this was the first anime that made me cry that much while watching it. And this was the first anime that I really followed aggressively -- stalking the raws and watching them even though I didn't understand any Japanese at the time. And it had young Goro and young Toshi whom I'll always adore... Which is why the fifth season has such a place in my heart. I just love Toshi. And I love Goro with Toshi. I am so tempted to go back to the third season to see Goro and Toshi together once again, trying their hardest to get into Kaido... God, I have no idea where my old Major DVDs are but I'll have to go and hunt them out now and rewatch the series.
Yet, at the same time I don't want to. I don't want to ruin those sweet memories I have of watching it for the first time. I don't want to go through the same painful scenes and not have it as powerful of an impact as they were all those years ago...
Anyway, for the moment, it's season six for me. I'm following Minor Ja Nai's fansubs of it so there's only the first episode of the season. Hopefully after watching it, I can hold out and not go and download the next two from Umai-Fansubs. Come on, MJN, they're already two episodes ahead of you! I don't want to drop you since I've been following you since the beginning!! I suspect there won't be much Sato (T_T) but hopefully we'll get to see some glimpses...
edit x1: Oh my god, Kyoshiro really is Ichiro! And he plays for the Seattle Seagulls! LOL! I almost feel like I should root for them since I typically would root for the Mariners... :\

on 2010-04-18 01:08 pm (UTC)Kokore E ^^. I know I squeed at the end of last season too. It is also used back for season 6 OP but sung by a different group now (TRIPLANE). A bit different but I may be biased as I love Road of Major

on 2010-04-18 01:16 pm (UTC)Oh, Triplane is singing Kokoro e? I'm actually a fan of their sound but I can't help but associate Road of Major with Major. And of course, with Kokoro e so I'm not sure if it'll translate well in my mind.
