Kare Kano!

Just finished reading the last 12 volumes of Kare Kano. Wow, that was a wild ride. And I had forgotten so much of it that there are parts where I didn't know what was happening next! I love it when that happens, though it rarely does since I revisit old favorites so often. I mean, I just finished rewatching the entire Nodame anime and live action (thinking about reading the manga but it's getting a bit overkill). I wonder why I've neglected Kare Kano for so long when I seriously loved it back in high school?

But, I bought my first volume of Kare Kano (back when I couldn't find any more scanlations and was basically forced to) in college. At Kinokuniya of all places so it must have been during my very first visit there... *sigh* So long ago.

And now I have volumes 1-7 to look forward to! ^^ I originally read volumes 1-9 as scanlations so I never bothered to buy them. But since I had lost gift card money to spend (thanks Brittney and Stephanie! Sorry it took me this long to use your gifts!), I was able to go and get them. Hopefully they'll arrive at the end of this week, early next week, and I can marathon reading those chapters as well. ^^

Still, this has made me so nostalgic for Kare Kano. Thinking back on it, I have so many memories associated with it...It makes me want to dig out my copies of the Kare Kano anime and rewatch them. But I have the earlier volumes coming soon and I don't want to spoil myself (even though I've already seen all the episodes and read those volumes before)...What should I do? I'm torn...

I am glad I kept those DVDs though since I had thought about selling them. I bought them in high school as a set, the actual licensed DVDs of the series (my god, I was so into this series, I actually went legit for them!) and my first big purchase online. Thinking back on it, I felt so guilty and wrong for spending so much money on such a silly extravagence... It was only $90 but I never spent money back then...And certainly nothing that was over $20 (that was a lot to me back in high school). Or bought things online... Actually, now that I think about it, anime/manga got me to do ALL those things and opened my eyes to downloading newer and exciting things. I discovered eBay because of anime. o.O Somehow, I'm getting the feeling that I was negatively influenced... :\

I think I want to wallow in more Kare Kano love... DVDs it is! I have no willpower... Or patience... OTL

Wow, I should get around to finishing the manga... I was on like, volume 12? It seemed like the story was spiraling off into who-knows-what, but seeing how you sound so excited about it makes me want to finish it! I loved the anime way back in the day. :D

I think that was when the manga started going into more character side stories before moving on to the last part of the manga that was focused on Arima. It was kinda weird and gets a bit depressing but it all works out.

I was actually not a big fan of the anime... It seemed like they were trying to do something artistic with it that I didn't quite like...

Yeah, they really tried a little too hard at the end ~ but overall I love how fast paced they made it, and I can't get that image of the monster!Yukino flying down the side of a building to avenge her Arima photo. XD
