Yay! I talked with Kent!

He didn't totally dish on every single detail like I wanted him to and we only talked for like an hour but it was nice to see and hear from him. ^^

It's too bad he was too exhausted and jet lagged to really be very enthusiastic during the conversation... :(

And he's still planning on watching the Oregon State v. Boise State game... And possibly the UO game that's at 4 am local time for him. Insane! This is my sports/football obsessed brother. :\

But damn, I'm glad I was still awake to answer Kent's call! I was playing the new Harvest Moon game and had been planning on ending it for a while before he called but it just kept on getting its hooks into me and I kept playing one more day after another... Maybe now I can finally go to sleep? It is 8 am after all...

One last thing, Kent asked me to keep his call to me a secret from the parentals, which seems awfully cruel to me seeing as they both have been asking me daily if he had contacted me yet (separately too so I get two questions a day from them). I don't want to lie but I think Kent wants to know how long he could go without calling them before their heads pop off from worry. Seeing as I actually did this once too while I was in NY, I kinda get it. And for the record, it was two weeks and in the end, they even had my cousin on Facebook asking me if I was okay. I think they thought I had been kidnapped or something bad like that. Anyway, it was horrible and I realized it was really a bad idea (even if I still kinda think it was a rather neat experiment) but maybe Kent needs to figure that out for himself... Besides, he still hasn't gotten a phone yet or a phone card and the last time he called home, he did it through a phone booth (I didn't realize people actually still used those things...). Maybe he should wait until he got a phone because that would make calling home a hell of a lot easier...

But should I tell, or should I not? That is the question... :\

Screw this, I'm going to bed.

Um, question: why didn't you want to let your parents/family know where you were?

It was midterms, I was like super-busy and any time I talk to anybody from my family, it turns out to be at least an hour long conversation... I was barely sleeping, haunting the library and was freaking out because because a science major meant my midterms are clumped together with no break in between and I just couldn't deal with my family drama right at that moment.

That, and I really loathe small talk about my life. It just seemed easier to just put it aside.

Wow. Well, I still think it's a good idea to let them know you're okay. Maybe email them?

My family doesn't do that kinda thing anymore (Japan cured them) so I've never gone through that problem.

My parents aren't tech-savvy enough to know how to use a computer. And the English thing is a problem too since I don't know nearly enough Chinese to even carry a conversation with them, much less type it in in an email...
