NaNoWriMo 2010

So, I'm going to do NaNoWriMo this year as well... I made the decision today after I received an email from them but I had been thinking about it for a while since it was getting kinda close to November...

In the end, I never did finish that H/D fanfic of mine. So I'll be trying to do that this year with another 50,000 words! Considering it felt like I barely scratched the surface of what I wanted to write last year, I have no doubts that it'll take at least another 50,000 words to finish it. And probably more... :\

I kinda wish I had saved the excerpt and synopsis from last year... That and the temporary title I had given my fic... >< Yeah, I couldn't even remember what I wanted to call it! OTL

So...I picked a stupid placeholder title and quickly wrote a simple synopsis and just copied and pasted a part of the fic that I thought would do okay for a excerpt. I'm certain that absoutely all three suck but it'll do for now... Should I ever finish this story, I'll probably write something better for it but for now, eh.

Are there anybody else doing this crazy, maddening thing this year? Want to be "writing buddies"? Seriously, it's kinda of an insane thing to take on. I barely even remember much of that month, only a lot of writing and a lot of, oh my god, gotta make my quota for the day, must make my quota, quota, quota, quota!!! That, and a lot of coffee... But thinking back on it, it was a lot of fun too, and a good experience. Hopefully this year would be equally as great, albeit harrowing...

Mmm I'm thinking of doing it :D right now I'm in study-mode-hell, but my tests end Oct. 30 so just in time for me to dive into Nanowrimo! I've never done it before but well, I need something to do at work. XD; How does it work?

It's really straight forward. You spend the month, trying to write a 50,000 word novel (or fanfic, like I'm doing) by the end of November 30 at midnight. The point is to write a lot, even if it's all crap -- quantity over quality. You're just trying to get everything you have in mind on to the page, and at the end, you can go and edit the whole thing, if you so choose. It's really intense but if you try and make a daily quota of 1667 words, it's not so bad.

If you do want to do it, sign up at the NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org) website and during Novmeber, just keep updating your word count to keep track of progress. Also, you can network and connect with others doing NaNoWriMo in your city/area and can get support and do meet ups to just go and write.
