Finished my taxes today. I actually did them on Sunday but I like to do them once through and then double check them on a different day just in case there are mistakes. Ideally, I would have done it yesterday but I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get to them until tonight. For a while there, I thought about just saying "screw it" and just print them out as they were since I was pretty confident I had done them correctly. Thank god I didn't because apparently, I'm an idiot and I made a mistake on my state income taxes, not the federal one. That one was thankfully all good and since the state one is partially based on the federal, there were no compounding mistakes. Yay.

But the mistake really came from the fact that I went off of my last year's taxes and there was a small difference -- last year, I had marked a section as 0 because of the Making Work Pay credit but since there is no credit this year (still so very pissed at that), I actually had a number to put there. It's a good thing because it helped lower my taxable income and gave me more of a refund so yay for extra money (this is a happy yay, as opposed to the not so happy yay from the above paragraph).

And now they're done, they'll be backed up as soon as I finish this post, signed, dated, sealed and waiting for the mailman in my mailbox. Another year's taxes, done. I think this is actually the longest I've waited to do them since I generally get it done by the end of March. Now I'm waiting for my refund, not as much as I would have liked but c'est la vie. And damn them again for not renewing the tax credit. As far as I'm concerned, the economy still hasn't been stimulated.
