So, I saw on the news today that some crazy guy opened fire at the Clackamas Town Center Mall in Portland.
He killed two people, injured another and then committed suicide.
That's seriously insane.
Is it just me or are these happening more often now? Or are we just hearing about it more?
And damn, at Clackamas Town Center? That's our mall. Before moving to Hood River, my family lived in Portland. We lived like fifteen minutes away from that place. It's where we went to see movies. It's where we went every Halloween. I have so many memories associated with that place and to think something like this could have happened there? My god...
I'm amazed that the shooter got off so many shots and only killed two people. It's horrible but it still seems rather miraculous. And to have all this happen in the afternoon less than two weeks before Christmas? Kids, families, people doing their Christmas shopping... The mall must have been packed! My own Mother had tentatively planned to spend the afternoon there buying gifts but decided she wanted to sleep in instead and didn't end up going... How insane is that? *shudders*
I do have to wonder though... Would people even be able to go to the Clackamas Town Center this year? Even if my Christmas shopping wasn't nearly finished, I don't think I could bear to set foot in there. I haven't been there in about a year but the next time? How can anyone walk in there and not think of this day?
