An Afternoon Uptown

So I had my classes today and since I didn't have a clinic, my day ended at 10:35.
Technically, my recitation is supposed to go onto 10:45 and clinic is supposed to be until 12:15... But I ended my day early since it was the first day of recitation and there really wasn't anything to talk about.
So I get back to the dorm (after buying some eggs and a bunch of green onions for fried rice later) and it's about 11 PM. I waste an hour and a half on the computer, reading fanfics, looking through my Friends list in LJ and about 12:30 I went to have some lunch before meeting up with Sao.
So I have lunch (by myself since my roommate was asleep and the only other person here was Brittany) and I come back and it's after one. Not long after I come back, Sao shows up and tells me this incredible story.
So what happened is this:
She goes to Cooper Square for one of her recitations. I think it was for Economic Principles II or something like that. She gets there and she waits for half an hour and no one shows up. Turns out she's in the wrong room. So she goes to the right room and it turns out the class has been moved to the Silver Center. So she goes to the Silver Center. There, she goes to the fourth floor and takes the stairs up to the fifth because the elevators only go up to the fourth and her class is on the fifth floor. She goes there and there's no one there.
So after waiting for like another half an hour, she decides to leave.
Who knows? It's a recitation so maybe it doesn't start until next week or something like that...
So it's about 1:30 by that time and we decide to go since we were both ready.
We go up to Union Square to take the 6 train to 59th street. It really wasn't that far actually, even though we're only on 12th street. I was kinda surprised to see that it was only like five-ten minutes on the subway.
We then had to walk down to 57th St. and Madison. There we found Tourneau, the place where Sao was going to get her watch battery changed. It was $15! Wow! But the place we were at was pretty classy. We looked around and after we got it fixed, we basically toured the area.
We went down to Fifth Avenue and just went into various shops (Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany, Cartier, Louis Viutton, Prada, Armani Exchange) where everything was way overpriced and we would never be able to afford it. We looked at evening wear, suits, handbags, luggage, jewelery, perfume and just marveled at the prices. And it was so funny because everything is made in China and we were like, we can get this in China for way less.
We looked around, commented on the stuff, tried to figure out the style of the new fall line. It was fun. Everything was so amazingly expensive ($3000 for a winter coat!) and very high class.
While we were walking we saw some postcards that were 10 for $1 and we decided, hey, lets each get five and split the cost. So we did and the next block over we saw a sign that was 20 postcards for a dollar. We laughed so hard.
We were kinda tired after walking so much so after we did Saks Fifth Avenue (huge store by the way, 10 floors!) we took a little break at this little outside sitting area. It just so happens that Rockefeller Center was just to the right of us. I was like, hey, isn't that the place where they do SNL? Sao didn't know because she doesn't watch a lot of TV but I thought it was...
Next we walked down to Bryant Park and they were kicking off Fashion Week so we got to see some models for Rosita & DiSarno. We sat down at a little table and watched the big screen and models walked up and down the runway.
We did that for a bit and we continued on our walk down Fifth Avenue. We were actually going towards Times Square. We got there, saw it, lots of advertisements and neon signs.
We even saw the MTV studios where TRL is filmed. I think it was the time of TRL since were there like at five o'clock. We saw some hiphop looking people (who might have been Usher and his entourage, but I don't know) and one girl shriek and screamed when one of them waved to her. Personally, I wouldn't be able to recognize them at all even if they were right in front of me.
One girl was holding an "I Love You, Jessica" sign so I thought maybe Jessica Simpson was there... It turns out, Nick Lachey was there so that might have been why. I didn't see anybody, but it was kinda hard just looking up at the windows.
We crossed the street and the view was a little bit better. We could see more into the building and some heads but no stars that I could recognize. A lot people were holding cameras and taking pictures of it...
Near it, in the middle of the road was this setup for maybe an outdoor concert. We felt kinda bad, living here (at least for the last two weeks) and not knowing what was going on... :(
After doing Times Square, it was like 5:30 so we decided to go back to Third North. While we were going to the subway, we decided that we needed to go back there at night just to take in the sights. The train ride was so fast! There wasn't even a stop from 42nd Street all the way back to Union Square. I was kinda surprised... I didn't know it was that direct but it was definitely very cool. All in all, it was a good day.
Last notes: For some reason I can't finish downloading WS 14... I have 80% of it done but it just won't finish. I can't even connect with WS 15... I tried downloading it off mIRC but got banned for an hour for not running a silent fserve. :( I didn't know any better! Sherry is a stupid n00b who makes stupid n00b mistakes.
Tomorrow I have my Saturday Chem lab. *makes a face* I thought I got rid of the Saturday classes back in Oregon but I guess not. But at least Diana and Kent will be suffering with me back there. True, they'll be asleep when I'm in class and still by the time I get out but they will suffer on Saturday as they always do.
I asked Brittany how long it took and she said it was only about 2 hours so I was happy about that. Me and Sao are gonna do Chinatown tomorrow and she's promised to take me to a restaurant that has real Shangainese cuisine. I look forward to it. Plus, I need to stock up on some groceries and I need a cutting board so hopefully I'll get that there.
Last note, Kimeru's DVD still has not arrived. Starting to get worried here...
Addendum: RealPlayer is a lot better at playing streaming video than WMP. And KIMERU IS SO KAKOII!!!
Also, Diana, if you're reading this, please don't call me after midnight my time. I'm probably asleep. Or getting there. Mommy called me at 1 o'clock and I was already in bed, more than half asleep. I was not happy.
And, don't forget to watch AIEOU (did I get that right...?) tomorrow! Kimeru might be one! You promised to tape!
And the weirest thing happened last night. I was awaken by a really huge crash and I didn't know what it was. On closer inspecting, it was the mirror on our door that had fallen down. It totally shattered and we had glass everywhere. Since it was 4:30 AM, I decided to deal with it later and to go back asleep. I fell back asleep surprisingly fast actually. The glass has been swept away to the side so that it doesn't kill anyone but it is still on the floor.
